The aim of Numberland is to provide young children with opportunities to learn about numbers through first-hand experiences, to help children build up knowledge about the world, and to make them aware of the relevance of this knowledge to their everyday lives.

The innovative approach to early childhood education used in this programme combines ideas from mathematics education with concepts from modern neurological research. This so-called “Neurodidactical” approach centres on the child and his or her individual development.

The Teacher’s Guide to Numberland 1 contains lessons 1 to 10 of the Numberland Programme by Prof. Gerhard Preiss.
